Home?

Has anybody noticed the shift in the way people talk about the places where they abide, their homes?  I've always referred to it as the place where I live but now, it's also common for people to talk about where they Stay.  Here's an example at urban dictionary.    I think this concept makes me kind of sad.

Hmm... its interesting, but I am not seeing how it makes you sad. It would be kind of boring if our speech patterns never changed.

No, it's not the change of the speech pattern that makes me sad. It's that I think the change is because some people feel more like they're not as connected with the place they go home to at night. It's more temporary language to me.

Well, I even find that as a good thing.
Why should we feel connected to the place we sleep?
It could change at any time, really. You could move, it could burn down, it could be infested with termites etc.
And being more connected to your "home" would make it even harder to stay away for very long...

I just don't feel like the place we sleep should hold any significant importance to us.
